Papua New Guinea (PNG) was my 158th country and I was super curious to see what it's all about.
Sadly I did not have a lot of time to explore beyond the capital and the surrounding region and for that I was bummed because what makes PNG so special is all the different cultures and rituals which you only get to see outside the main cities as well as the ecological diversity of the landscape.
That said, I still got to see some unique places, learn about the traditions of the people, and immerse myself in the more modern history of the country from World War 2. I also got to experience some of the oddities – historical head hunting, betel nut chewing, penis sheaths?!? -- that makes PNG so fascinating! So get ready for a sampling of what PNG offers the world!!
