Difference between DNA & RNA in Tamil
Molecular Basis of Inheritance in Tamil
RNA stands for Ribonucleic Acid, an important biological macromolecule that is present in all cells
RNA is principally involved in:
Carrying the genetic information from DNA nucleus to cell
Serves as a messenger between the DNA and the ribosomes
Protein Synthesis
Enzyme Synthesis
Production of new cells
RNA is a single long chain Polynucleotides
It contains polymers of repeating subunits called nucleotides
70-12000 ribonucleotides which are joined end to end
The backbone is made of phosphate group and Pentose (Ribose) sugar
In RNA Base-pairing is formed through hydrogen bonds between nucleo-bases of the corresponding nucleotides
Double stranded RNA exists in some viruses. Ex: Rotavirus, Bacteriophage Φ6
