Caneva’s Castle 🏰
The medieval castle of Caneva, according to some scholars, was built near a previous Roman watchtower, a common construction in the foothills of Veneto and Friuli, which in turn perhaps derived from a Paleo-Venetian fortified village.
The hill on which the castle stands and the area below were probably already inhabited in the early Middle Ages, but little is known about this period.
