" Saare Jahaan Se Accha", also referred to as "Tarana-e-Hindi", is a song originally written as a poem by Muhammad Iqbal. The poem was first published in the weekly journal Ittehad on August 16, 1904. The following year, Iqbal recited it at Government College in Lahore. During the pre-independence era, the song became an anthem for the opposition to British rule in India.
