The past week was a very busy one in the True crime streets of South Africa I mean it’s not much of a surprise given we have one of the highest crime rates in the world, but that’s neither here nor there. So last week we spoke about the four serial killers who applied for parole. As I was researching that and recording, I came across the news that Bathobile Mlangeni, the SBV teller/security guard who pulled a brazen heist stealing R4million was sentenced to 8 years in prison. SBV is one of the biggest cash-in-transit companies in South Africa, they process, manage, and move cash and high-value assets. This specific case occurs at the SBV depot in the Mall of Africa in Midrand.
