More about the Qualified Person in the pharmaceutical industry
In the #pharmaceutical industry, the Qualified Person is often the one whose decisions are referred to when it comes to manufacturing a product. The responsible person takes on the role if you're only involved in distribution.
I have been asked several times what it means to be a QP and how you become one. You start by deciding which country you want to be a QP in, and then the requirements vary depending on the local legislation.
In the UK the system is different from the rest of Europe in that alternative qualifications are accepted. To support this approach, there is a requirement to complete specific academic and experiential criteria. I have spoken to assessors and trainers who deliver QP training that have the opinion that anyone can do it. Maybe anyone can, but in my opinion, it's not right for everyone.
The most important aspect of being the QP is that you are the patient's representative to ensure the product is of high quality, safe for use, and efficacious, that being it works when administered according to the instructions.
