The American alligator has ruled Florida's waterways for 8 million years. Fifteen feet long. One thousand pounds. A perfect survival machine with no natural enemies. For ages, it sat at the very top of the food chain, a living relic from the age of dinosaurs that answered to no one. But the rules of the swamp have changed. Recently, wildlife officers began finding the remains of these kings. These weren't animals that died of old age or lost a fight to a boat propeller. They were found torn apart—limbs missing, skulls crushed, and massive puncture wounds. Something was hunting the hunters.
Florida has a new king. It is faster, larger, and much meaner than anything native to North America. The hierarchy has shifted. The throne is taken. And this monster is not supposed to exist here.
