The Prime Minister Internship Scheme is a significant initiative launched by the Government of India to provide professional experience to the youth. Objective of the Scheme

Eligibility Criteria

To apply for this scheme, candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria:

Educational Qualifications:

Candidates must have any one of the following qualifications:

Higher Secondary Education (12th grade)

ITI Certificate

Polytechnic Diploma

Undergraduate Degree (such as BA, BSc, BCom, BBA, B.Pharm)


Age Limit:

The candidate must be between 21 to 24 years of age at the time of application submission.

Other Criteria:

The applicant must be an Indian citizen.

Should not be engaged in full-time employment.

Should not be enrolled in full-time education, but candidates pursuing distance or online education can apply.


Note: Postgraduates and candidates with degrees from IITs, IIMs, NITs, National Law Universities, MBA, CS, CA, MBBS, and BDS are not eligible for this scheme.

Application Process

To apply for the PM Internship Scheme, follow these steps:

1. Registration:

Visit the official website: pminternship.mca.gov.in

Click on the "Register" option and complete the registration process by filling in the required details.


2. Profile Creation:

After registration, log in and complete your profile by providing personal information, academic qualifications, and other necessary details.


3. Apply for Internship:

Apply for up to five internship opportunities based on your interest, location, field, and qualifications.


4. Upload Documents:

Upload self-attested copies of the required documents, including:

Academic Certificates

Aadhaar Card

PAN Card

Passport-size Photograph

Residence Proof

Caste Certificate (if applicable)

Bank Account Details


5. Submission of Application:

Review all details and submit the application.


6. Confirmation:

After submission, download the confirmation page and keep a copy for future reference.


Selection Process

After the application process, the selection process follows these steps:

1. Application Review:

The received applications are reviewed, and a list of eligible candidates is prepared.


2. Sending the List to Companies:

The shortlisted candidates' list is sent to relevant companies.


3. Selection by Companies:

Companies select candidates based on their requirements and offer internships accordingly.


4. Acceptance of Offer:

Selected candidates must accept the internship offer within a specified timeframe. If a candidate rejects an offer, the company can provide up to three more offers.


5. Internship Start:

Once the offer is accepted, the candidate's internship starts on the designated date.


Internship Duration and Stipend

Duration: The internship lasts for 12 months (1 year).

Stipend: Candidates receive a monthly stipend of ₹5,000, which includes:

₹500 from the company

₹4,500 from the central government through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT)


Initial Financial Assistance: Upon starting the internship, candidates receive a one-time grant of ₹6,000 to help with initial expenses.


Insurance Coverage

During the internship, candidates benefit from the following insurance schemes:

1. Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY): Provides life insurance coverage.


2. Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY): Provides accident insurance coverage.
