First of all, if you're not already familiar, ABA, or Applied Behavior Analysis, is an evidence-based therapeutic approach for working with individuals with or without autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other related conditions. It is highly adaptable and can be used in various contexts, such as school, clinical, and home settings—in all environments and situations.
ABA is often mistakenly associated only with the treatment of children with ASD, but why? The explanation is that when we talk about autism, early intervention is considered the best option for this population. However, we know that the reality is quite different, isn't it? This is especially true considering the high number of adolescents and adults with ASD who lack support and have not been exposed to ABA therapy, or if they have, it wasn't done correctly. But you might ask yourself: Can ABA really be applied to autistic adolescents and adults? Will these individuals be able to learn new skills, or will we be able to change certain problem behaviors, for example?

Who is Fábio Coelho?
Fábio Coelho is a Psychologist specializing in Autism Spectrum Disorders from the University of Araraquara (2018), holds a Master's degree in Education (Unicarioca), and is a PhD candidate in Education (Unicarioca). He also has specializations in Neuropsychology (Unyleya, 2020) and Applied Behavior Analysis for autism and intellectual disability (Centro Universitário Celso Lisboa, 2021).
He has extensive experience in autism and ABA intervention, topics in which he has participated in various national and international congresses and taught in-person and distance learning courses. He also has experience in child diagnostic assessment, social skills, and parenting styles.
He is a Managing Partner and Professor at the Autism Academy, Managing Partner and Clinical Supervisor at the Mosaico Center (Rio de Janeiro). He coordinates the postgraduate program in Child Behavioral Analytic Therapy at CBI of Miami/Celso Lisboa and is a Professor in the postgraduate program in Autism Spectrum Disorder (FOCUS).
Fábio is also an International ABA Supervisor (IBA) certified by the International Behavior Analysis Organization (IBAO). The IBAO (https://www.theibao.com/) is one of the leading regulators of Behavior Analysis in the world and its mission is to ensure ethical practices, protect consumers, and maintain appropriate standards in the field of ABA.
Above all, Fábio is the father of Guilherme and Fernando, both diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, and the husband of Mayara.
