After working hard around the Bay, sticking to our values and standards, and getting 100% 5-star Google reviews along the way, Napier Electric Company has grown to a size that’s just right – not too big or too small.
What does that mean to you, a qualified and experienced sparky looking for a change?
It’s you against the world ‘cos your boss is too overworked to help
You get stuck doing the same thing day after day
There are only limited ways to grow your career
There’s no one to work with and bounce ideas off, let alone the chance to make good friends
We’re NOT so big that:
You’re just another number
You never see the boss, never mind chatting to them about your ideas
There are several other staff above you that get all the opportunities
You have to fill out 5 forms to get a jar of screws
The worms burrow in nice and low and do the bare minimum while you bust your butt
We reckon our porridge is just right. We’re small enough that there’s a real family feel to our team. Everyone knows everyone’s name, partners' names, even their kids. When you do a great job, we notice it, and you don’t have to tolerate someone slacking while you’re slaying it – they’ll get pulled up on it. Bi-monthly 1-on-1 talks with the boss gives you a chance to have your ideas heard. And we’re still very nimble so if something’s not working, it gets changed. You’ll never hear: ‘this is how we’ve always done it.’
We’re big enough that we get massive work variety and get to work on some incredible projects. We have a great-sized crew of friendly and hardworking people that meet up often around the workshop pool table and dart board.
We have specialists in several fields, so there are plenty of options if you want to grow your career: you could learn more about high-end domestic electrical, commercial fit-outs, heat pumps, solar, EV chargers, data and whole-home audio – even driving a digger.
We could also put you through your inspector’s ticket. Our size means we have top quality admin support, including an operations manager, admin manager and a stock controller to handle all your gear ordering and credits so you can get on and do what you do best without getting bogged down in paperwork.
If you want to make a change and join some of the best sparkies in the bay, this might be your opportunity. This is what’s on the table:
$34 -$38 per hour – based on what you bring
A kitted-out double cab Dmax
Smartphone & tablet with a keyboard (makes CoCs so easy!)
A generous tool allowance
Work uniform including wet weather jacket and a new pair of boots every year
The person best suited to this role will:
– Have a keen eye for detail and be willing to output the best quality work
– Be friendly and solutions-focused
– Comfortable with technology
– inputting timesheets, job notes, CoCs etc into our job management system using a tablet and smartphone
– Career-focused and willing to learn
– Be hardworking: no bare-minimum heel-draggers allowed!
Blood, sweat and tears have gone into creating the right team, and we screen for the very best people. You will be taken through a practical skills test and a pre-employment drug test, and you’ll get to meet a big chunk of the team and get a good feel for the role before you hop on board. We want to know you’re the right fit, for ours AND your sake.
So if you’re like Goldilocks and don’t want to spoon down cold porridge, come join us at the Napier Electric table.
We’ve got 4 great apprentices on board, and we’re not looking for any more at this stage, so please, only NZ-qualified electricians need to apply. Talk soon, Adam.
