At the start of KISS, Peter Criss played a crucial role as the band's drummer, delivering memorable tracks like "Hard Luck Woman" and "Black Diamond." However, as time passed, his struggles with substance abuse began affecting his performance. During a December 1979 show in Toledo, Criss intentionally altered song tempos, leading to tension within the band leading to his eventual replacement by Eric Carr in 1980. Carr, known for his powerful drumming on songs like "I Love It Loud," brought a distinct style to as a hard hitting drummer. His low tuned snare sound was signature. Sadly, he passed away in 1991.
