A.K.A. "Why Don't The LittleBigPlanet Games Run At 60fps?"
To explain what's going on in the video, debug builds of the LittleBigPlanet games have a "VSync" option in the Optimizing category of the debug menu. Toggling this effectively removes the framerate cap, allowing it to run much faster than usual.
Long-time players probably already know this, but the LittleBigPlanet games tie physics calculations to the framerate, and since these games were built with 30fps in mind, increasing the framerate makes everything faster, which messes with the logic timing and makes anything that syncs to the music nigh impossible to create and maintain. It also introduces a ton of screen tearing, so there's that.
Physics issues aside, unless you're in the Pod or a really simple area the game struggles to maintain 60fps in most levels, frequently dipping to the 30s/40s. I'm sure the PlayStation 4 version of LBP3 fares a bit better in this regard, but that's impossible to verify right now since no development builds for the PS4 version have surfaced at the time of this video going up.
As for why I chose to record the Adventure Time Level Kit of all levels at 60fps, I don't remember. I guess I couldn't be bothered to load Adventure Mode and find a suitable level?
Other than that, there's not much else to say, really. This is just a filler video while I work on other things. Next time you see someone asking why LBP3 doesn't run at 60fps, show them this video and description, I guess.
