I've been in a few caves along my travels, but exploring Giants Cave in Margaret River was definitely up there with one of my top cave experiences.
Unlike most caves that are all lit up and have a clear path for you to follow, this one was more adventurous.
We were given torches and hard hats, a brief safety spiel, and then we were on our own to explore.
If it weren't for our torches we would've literally been in a pitch black cave with no idea where to go, but this was all part of the adventure.
Was I scared? You betcha, I don't like the dark because that's where all the creep crawlies and scary creatures usually hide, and I get claustrophobic when I'm in tight spaces.
But I've decided 2018 is the year of facing fears so I went ahead and did it anyway, and even though there were moments when I felt uneasy, it was totally worth it to get to see a practically untouched cave and imagine what it would be like to be the person that discovers a place like this.
