In this interview, Dr. Slava Gerovitch, Lecturer in History of Mathematics at the Mathematics Department (MIT) discusses his research projects and in particular his work on the history of space exploration in the United States and in the Soviet Union. Dr. Gerovitch shares insights into the development of space exploration, including its achievements and caveats, and discusses the reception of space conquest in popular culture. In addition, Dr. Gerovitch reflects on recent endeavors in this field, such as the role of Mars rovers, and development of commercial space exploration.
