This is our last video concerning the topic of Laser Powder Bed Fusion. During the preceding videos, we have presented how Fraunhofer IWM makes use of numerical simulation to create a digital twin of the Laser Powder Bed Fusion process.
Our approach is unique in that we use a holistic model that includes all relevant sub-steps of the process on the microstructure scale. The consideration of all these steps enables us to obtain and understand process-structure-property relationships which help to optimize the process and to introduce a new material.
