GTA 5 - Great Panto Staggered Race from 2021
Great to look back on these types of races. If the pandemic gave us anything at all it was a resurgence in GTA 5 racing all across the community. The genius of staggered racing, a staple racing format used in the racing community for years, often resulted in exciting and intense races that had close finishes. The host would be able to alter players’ starting times based on their perceived skill level relative to the rest of the pack, attempting to level the playing field and create closer racing and tighter finishes. The vast majority of staggered races would result in intriguing race long battles for all drivers, which depended particularly on their chosen car at the start, whether it be slow or fast. Drivers who picked the fastest cars in the class could expect to wait minutes at the start before attempting an aggressive comeback drive to beat the slower cars to the line; alternatively, drivers in the slowest cars will drive off from the front, hotlapping while simultaneously negotiating the pressure of faster cars behind and hoping that faster cars don’t lose too much time battling other cars so that they can’t catch by the finish. So many possibilities meant great racing was inevitable, and this one is just an example of what this game could provide, among so much more.
