Quilled Paper Earring Tutorial
How to make Quilled
paper earring

Quilled paper earrings are a fun and creative craft project that can result in beautiful and unique jewelry pieces. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to make quilled paper earrings:

Materials Needed:

Quilling paper strips (in various colors)
Quilling tool (slotted or needle)
Craft glue
Earring hooks
Jump rings
Tweezers
Scissors
Clear varnish or sealant (optional)
Toothpick (optional)
Step 1: Prepare Your Quilling Paper Strips
Choose the colors of quilling paper strips you want to use for your earrings. You can purchase pre-cut quilling paper strips in various colors, or you can cut your own from colored paper. Each strip should be about 1/8 inch wide and around 12 inches long.

Step 2: Quill the Paper Strips
Using a quilling tool (either slotted or needle), take one end of a quilling paper strip and insert it into the slot or around the needle. Begin to roll the paper strip tightly around the tool, keeping it centered as you go. Once you've rolled the entire strip, carefully slide it off the quilling tool and let it loosen slightly to create a loose coil. You can use a toothpick to help loosen the coil if needed. Repeat this process with the other quilling paper strips, creating different shapes such as tight coils, loose coils, and teardrops.

Step 3: Arrange and Glue the Quilled Shapes
Using tweezers, arrange the quilled shapes into a design that you like for your earrings. Experiment with different shapes and colors until you're satisfied with the arrangement. Once you've finalized the design, use craft glue to attach the shapes together. Apply a small amount of glue to the end of one shape and press it against another shape, holding it in place for a few seconds until the glue sets. Repeat this process to attach all the shapes together, creating a cohesive design.

Step 4: Attach Earring Hooks
Once the glue has dried, use jump rings to attach earring hooks to the top of your quilled paper design. Open a jump ring using pliers, and thread it through the top of the quilled design. Then, thread the earring hook onto the jump ring and close it securely using the pliers. Repeat this process to attach earring hooks to the other quilled paper earring.

Step 5: Apply Varnish or Sealant (Optional)
If you want to add extra durability to your quilled paper earrings, you can apply a clear varnish or sealant to protect them from moisture and wear. Use a small brush or a toothpick to apply a thin coat of varnish or sealant over the entire surface of the earrings. Let it dry completely according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Step 6: Trim and Adjust (Optional)
If desired, you can use scissors to trim any excess paper or adjust the shape and size of your quilled paper earrings to your liking. Be careful not to cut too close to the glued areas, as this may cause the paper shapes to come apart.

Once your quilled paper earrings are complete, they're ready to wear or gift! Quilled paper earrings are a unique and eye-catching accessory that can add a touch of creativity and personality to any outfit. Enjoy your quilling project and have fun experimenting with different designs and colors!
