July Gardening Tips & Prep For a Fall Garden | PNW Zone 8b
Happy July! Summer is finally here and we can complain about the heat after complaining all year about it being cold! Right now, you have likely harvested your garlic and are about to get your first tomato but it is already time to start seeding for a fall garden. A fall garden is a garden you harvest from in the fall, not when you start it and fall will be here before we know it. Now, July, is the time to get seeds in the the ground. In the PNW, we are lucky to have a longer growing season because of our generally mild weather. On top of that, many cool season crops can take a light frost and actually taste sweeter. In this video, I share a few gardening tips for July as well as what to plant to plant to enjoy this fall. If you are a new gardener, starting a fall garden, in my opinion, is easier than starting a spring garden so feel free to jump in, even if you missed the spring.
