Atarazanas (Mercado Central de Atarazanas) is a partially restored 19th-century building, a historical monument to the heritage of previous eras.
Today it is Málaga's main commercial market, with architecture that blends modern and Arabic styles.
The building's main features are the large Moorish Renaissance entrance arch and the colorful stained-glass window depicting a ship (this building was previously used for ship repairs; Atarazanas means "shipyard" in Moorish). This building once stood on the seashore. It's hard to believe now! It's Málaga's largest market.
The market offers fresh vegetables, meat, fish, seafood, herbs, and spices.
