Montclair State University Class of 2023 Commencement Exercises
It was triple the Pomp and Circumstance on Tuesday, May 23, when Montclair State University held three Commencement exercises at Prudential Center in Newark for the Class of 2023’s 5,386 graduates – many of whom are first generation – to celebrate their hard work, fortitude and resilience in making it through the last four years despite the COVID-19 pandemic and other challenges on their path to success.Graduates also received a surprise congratulatory message with advice from Star Trek actor William Shatner, beamed in from Los Angeles. “I urge you to imagine a future where there is peace and plenty, equality, justice and harmony. A future where every child could be a starship captain.”
