Mitochondria are cell organelles responsible for producing the energy necessary for cell function. These structures, present in most eukaryotic cells, convert nutrients and oxygen into ATP (adenosine triphosphate) through the electron transport chain and oxidative phosphorylation. Mitochondria have two membranes: the outer membrane surrounding the organelle and the inner membrane containing the proteins necessary for energy production. Mitochondria also contain their own DNA, allowing them to replicate and function autonomously.

Ribosomes are cellular structures responsible for protein synthesis. These structures are present in both prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells and are composed of ribosomal RNA and proteins. Ribosomes can be found either in the cell's cytosol or attached to the membrane of the rough endoplasmic reticulum. During protein synthesis, ribosomes read the genetic information from DNA and use the corresponding amino acids to build the proteins necessary for the cell.

Lysosomes are cellular organelles responsible for the degradation of substances within the cell. These structures contain hydrolytic enzymes that are capable of breaking down large molecules into smaller fragments, allowing them to be reused by the cell. Lysosomes originate from the Golgi apparatus and have a membrane that separates them from the cell's cytosol to prevent the release of dangerous enzymes into the cell interior. Furthermore, lysosomes are also important for cellular defense as they are capable of degrading foreign materials such as bacteria and viruses.
