Slower NOT Always Better - Speed vs MPG Test 3.0 Duramax Diesel
I ran the 2024 SIlverado ZR2 with the 3.0 Duramax Diesel Engine on Bonneville Salt Flats to see where the best MPG was as far as speed goes. This test was unscientific but it did provide a nice flat wide open area with no obstacles to vary the speed.
The ZR2 comes with larger tires than other models and therefore are much heavier as well. The 3.0 Duramax Diesel in any other trim likely would net 50+mpg in this same test.
