Most "alien mummies" are cleverly crafted fabrications—but apparently not all, says Dr. Steven Brown of Ohio State University.
About a year ago, journalist Jaime Maussan and several high-ranking scientists unveiled a supposed sensation in the Mexican Congress: two alleged alien corpses, over 1,000 years old, with three fingers and three toes and strange metal implants. The bodies were claimed to be 100 percent genuine and to have once been alive. Most researchers dismissed the alleged alien mummies as fakes from the outset. Only a few bothered to examine them more closely. One of them is Dr. Steven Brown of Ohio State University, who is researching them with a whole team of experts. He now realizes that hardly any of these sensational claims are tenable. But the bodies still pose a puzzle. There are different types of mummies with varying characteristics. Some are clearly fabricated. But with others, it's not so certain—and these appear to be truly ancient. Above all, the question arises: When were these mummies created, and for what purpose? Was the intention perhaps to emulate some kind of alien being?
