Experience at the 'Look at Us Now' Art Exhibition
This exhibition is by the Livingstone Office for Contemporary Art Studio program (LoCA SP) which invites a critical examination of cultural heritage and the socio-political complexities shaping Zambia today. It is curated by Luyando Muleya and Banji Chona, and Works by artists Hannah Uzor, Isaac Kalambata, Bruno Milambo, Chansa Chishimba, and Bitter-Sweet.
Luyando Muleya explored local knowledge systems and transmission practices using song, dance, and initiation rituals to challenge dominant narratives in media, education, and politics.
Banji Chona’s curatorial practice focused on the radical reimagining of Zambian identity, memory, and resistance. Chona offers alternative histories and narratives, and her work envisions "Zambezia" – an ancestral land beyond colonial influen
They unpacked the exhibition's themes, interrogating the works' relationships with history, power, and resistance, while considering their potential as alternative archives that challenge dominant narratives and propose new imaginaries for Zambia's cultural future.
