For his Emerging Creatives submission, he put forward two retail design concepts - Malbec Hotel Bathroom and Pleeko Print Studio - and one work-from-home residential concept - Fox Shed Studio.
For the Malbec Hotel Bathroom, a concept he created for a competition for the Paragon Group, he has conceived of a tranquil and modern design that expressively focuses on the use of honest materials that define a true farmhouse experience. This inviting guesthouse is based in Johannesburg and allows guests to escape from the stresses of everyday living.
Pleeko Print Studio is designed on two levels, with a shopfront at ground level and a mezzanine above it. It is resplendent in pretty pink and curvilinear lines.
Fox Shed Studio is an apartment design inspired by Post Modernism and curved forms. This combination is striking and complex, yet the main aim of this design was to create a free flow of movement and a playful feel by using colour to differentiate parts of the design. An important feature is the customized timber that creates an enclosed area - this provides seating space for visitors and those attending listening sessions held by the owner of the apartment.
