November 16th of this year was the worst day of my life. Sam, my beautiful wife, lost her life after a horrific fight with cancer. Just two years ago we found a lump in her left breast in Cartagena, Colombia while on a motorcycle journey traversing the Pan American route. Everything seems a blur since that day. She was strong and full of sunny optimism all the way to the very end.
Life has not been the same since. The last images her family and I have of her are not the Sam we knew. Her captivating presence is better represented in old videos and photos. Seeing all the memories we created blurs the edges of our last moments. I prefer to stick with the better times. It is better to remember her for how she lived: hopeful, giving, and sweet.
The videos on that journey will always serve as a memorial to her. I always want to choose to remember the good moments we had, just as she would have me do. Therefore, I am choosing to post our wedding day, the happiest day of my life.
