Start the Year Saving $3171.80 | Budget With Me January 2024

With the new year and a new month comes a new budget. Budgeting as a software engineer is usually pretty nice because you have so much flexibility in how much you spend versus how much to save. This is especially useful since I want to achieve financial independence and retire early as a software engineer - and hopefully get there in my 30s.
This month, I expect to save $3171.80, or a little over 50% of my income including 401k and HSA contributions. I also plan to get started with contributing to my Roth IRA for the 2024 financial year. This is great, despite the fact that I'm going to have to start paying back my student loans (oof) as well as some additional costs related to travel in January (yike).
