Nigeria has finally joined BRICS
BRICS has officially expanded its alliance, and this time, Nigeria is making headlines as one of the newly announced partner nations! At the recent BRICS summit held in Kazan, Russia, from October 22-24, 2024, Nigeria was named among 13 countries joining BRICS as partners. Alongside Nigeria are Algeria, Belarus, Bolivia, Cuba, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Thailand, Turkey, Uganda, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam.
For Nigeria, this is a monumental step, aligning Africa’s most populous nation with BRICS, an influential group shaping global trade, policy, and economic growth.
Since its foundation as Brazil, Russia, India, and China, BRICS has expanded strategically, adding South Africa in 2010 and, more recently, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, and the UAE as full members. But with Nigeria’s addition, BRICS gains a dynamic partner with vast potential across energy, agriculture, technology, and more. 🌍
