Cinematography Lighting Tutorial - Cinematic Lighting from Scratch (Demo)
In this video I walk you through a demo, how to create a beautifully cinematic image from scratch (meaning zero exposure), with no ambient light levels.
I use a style from older cinematographers based on having to introduce light, just to get achieve a base level of exposure. I then show you, how using this method allows you to have better control over your lighting along with the benefit of richer and deeper shadows. MORE CONTRAST.
We use a little color contrast for interest.
As a quick note, your aperture isn't the only way yo control exposure on a set. You can use you cameras ISO, shutter speed or stack ND. Usually, an ND filter would be my first option if don't want to increase my exposure on my lens too much in order to control my depth of field.
