Lake of the Ozarks is a reservoir in central Missouri created by the Bagnell Dam on the Osage River. The lake is 54,000 acres in size and has 1,150 miles of shoreline. It's the largest man-made lake in the United States that's not used for flood control.
The lake is a popular fishing spot with over 70,000 docks. It's also one of the top recreational areas in the Midwest. The lake is safe to swim in.
The lake's serpentine shape has earned it the nickname "the Missouri Dragon".
