NEBRASKA - Local families are reeling after an EF3 tornado struck several areas of the US Midwest. Joe of Kennard, NE recalled the terrible storm that blew through his community.
He told us, "I got home, and you could see the sky starting to turn pretty dark. And I stood outside and watched the storm develop."
He continued, "The house started shaking; we could hear the wood cracking and breaking, the windows breaking. Pretty soon it was all over, and we came up."
Joe's family suffered roof damage, broken windows, and the total loss of his outbuildings. At the time of the tornado in Nebraska, Operation Blessing was wrapping up a disaster response in Louisiana. Backed by the generous support of friends like you, the disaster relief team immediately deployed to Nebraska to survey the needs in affected communities. There, they were connected with Joe and his family.
Joe said, "Operation Blessing is helping me to rebuild the barn for our animals that was lost. It's going to be a temporary shelter, but it's a shelter for the animals."
He was thankful. "All the people have come to help. It's just overwhelming, and it’s just amazing—you cannot thank them enough. It does mean a lot to everybody."
