Chapter 25: Slayer of Lords
My lord Grimbeorn
This is Gunli, son of Drulim. I wrote to you a few months ago about our exodus from Khazad-Dûm. Urging you to take the mines for your own benefit in your war against our common enemy, the goblins of Moria.
As I return to Ered Luin, I must warn you that the situation is dire. A new lord has united the clans, not out of respect or strength - but through greed and intimidation. I barely recognize my kin, for many of them are now filled with hatred against men, elves and even hobbits. As I petioned the many clans, speaking of the friendship between my people and those of the Anduin Vale - I was scoffed at, ridiculed, as if I was a traitor to my own blood.
My lord, I urge you caution - for the dwarfs that now traverse the mountains of Hithaeglir are not the ones you fought side by side with. They are not to be trusted, and will grant you as much mercy as they would any old snaga.
I will do what I can in the blue mountains, to awake my people from this nightmare. I would not dare wish harm upon my fellow dwarves - but I know that you shall do what must be done.
