Have you ever seen an American Eel up close, or read about their wild life cycle of living in freshwater and then going way out into the ocean to spawn 4 million eggs right before dying? Listen to this episode of #beachcombing with Jace Tunnell to learn more about this amazing fish.

This video talks about the impact humans are having on the American Eel and about the amazing species. After discussions with eel experts, we believe this particular eel to be a King Snake Eel, which is an offshore species that only lives in the Gulf of Mexico and can live in depths of over 1,000 feet. These two species of eels are hard to distinguish on a dead, partially decaying fish, but whether a King Snake Eel or an American Eel, both species are fascinating to find this large washed up on the beach. Enjoy the video!
