WA EPISODE 15 WINDJANA GORGE & TUNNEL CREEK
Located just 146kms from Derby and 25klms from the Gibb River Road, Windjana Gorge is one of the Kimberley’s most stunning gorges, with walls that rise majestically to heights of 100 metres. As you walk through the gorge, you’ll encounter freshwater crocodiles sunbaking on the surrounding banks. A further 37kms east of Windjana Gorge is Tunnel Creek. After doing some rock hopping, you can explore the cave by wading through freshwater pools. The cave features many beautiful formations, including stalactites and stalagmites. It is home to a variety of bats, olive pythons and fresh water crocodiles. Take a torch, dry bag and be prepared to get wet. The water is usually only knee deep but a 15-metre stretch was well over our heads when we were there. An experience not to be missed!
