Trois Morceaux by Gabriel Fauré, trans. Micheline Kahn
Trois Morceaux (Three Pieces) by Gabriel Fauré (1845 - 1924) is a set of three works transcribed for the harp by Micheline Kahn (1889 - 1987). The first two pieces, Berceuse de Dolly and Le Jardin de Dolly, come from Fauré's Dolly Suite, op. 56, originally written for piano duet. The third piece Sicilienne, op. 78, is frequently performed in a version for cello and piano, although Fauré also arranged it for full orchestra.
Micheline Kahn was a French harpist who is closely associated with Fauré's solo harp works. She premiered his Impromptu, op. 86, and Fauré also dedicated Une châtelaine en sa tour, Op.110 to her. Knowing Kahn's history with Fauré, Jacqueline was delighted to discover and learn these transcriptions.
