Did you know this film was inspired by the events surrounding a real life exorcism of a 14 year old boy?
Who is Roland Doe
Born into a German Lutheran family in 1935 in Maryland, USA. Roland Doe was a 14 year old boy and alleged to be a victim of demonic possessions.
Roman Catholic priests performed a series of exorcisms on Roland and recorded the events - some priests witnessing the exorcisms were not convinced he was possesed - but what happened to this boy later identified as Ronald Edwin Hunker - who passed away in 2020.
As an only child he became close with his aunt, who was also a spiritualist, and like any good aunts introduced him to the Ouija board! Did this introduce the boy to another dimension, or demons in that dimension to attach to the boy?
When this aunt passed away paranormal activity occurred in the house whenever Roland was nearby - this was witnessed by the Lutheran pastor. It was recommended that the boy be exorcised.

Roland slipped his hands out the restraints and with a bedspring used as a weapons slashing a priests arm.
Religious relics were smashed on the floor but not by the boys hand.
Other priests witnessed during the exorcism a bed shaking, flying objects and the boy speaking in a guttural voice.
Various marking appeared on the boys body, along with the words evil, hell and most bizarrely Louis and Saturday which was scrawled on his hip. 3 1/2 weeks was written across his chest.
What happened to Roland - or Ronald?
In adult life, Hunkeler was a Nasa engineer whose work contributed to the Apollo space missions of the 1960s and who patented a technology that helped space shuttle panels withstand extreme heat. He was keen to keep his identity a secret from his Nasa colleagues, which he did for forty years in his career.
