Thomson Reuters CLEAR Everyday Heroes: Pinellas Code Enforcement Department
When a complaint came in about an expired tag on an abandoned vehicle, Pinellas County Code Enforcement Department’s Sergeant Shana Oberle used CLEAR to track the vehicle down and provide resources to the clearly struggling owner. When Oberle realized the owner looked as if they and their family were living in the vehicle, she chose to try and track down the owner and provide them with support resources. CLEAR provided owner’s contact information – which ended up being a family member as the owner was indeed homeless. The grandmother helped Oberle get in contact with the owner and introduce them to available non-profit resources in the area. The owner and their family then attended a free Farm Share event in which they received several bags of groceries and medical supplies
