Here is an alternative way to mirror your design in Adobe Illustrator. The mirror tool can be a great method, but I've always found that when you are finished with the design, it can be fiddly to ungroup and release all the clipping masks Illustrator makes. So i found a different technique that may be useful for anyone who is after an alternative option. Give it a try! 🙌
