6-03-2010. Finals, Gm 1. Again, are the Phil Lakers ready to grab Gm 1 while the opponent is sleeping (more or less)? Game 1s were usually good for those 5 Finals competitors under Phil. It wasn't the be-all, end-all as the Lakes lost the first 2 to SA in 2004 and swept the rest, but in a series like Detroit, it put them behind the 8 ball real quick. The odds of all teams that have lost Gm 1 in the history of all 7 gm series immediately turn bad. It's something like 70% losing teams that do it. As a bonus, Game 1 is often a well-reffed game because they don't know which team to do their extendo-series shit with. It's no wonder why LA usually won Gm 1s and the shenanigans began in the refs' attempts to help the losing teams (like SAC) out.
