Every evening during December of 2021, the Christmas in the Cathedral District event treated residents and visitors in Jacksonville to a dazzling holiday display of history and culture.
Presented by Cathedral District-Jax, in the midst of a pandemic, the innovative cultural event provided new ways for people to interface with their environment -- and each other.
The Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, First Presbyterian Church of Jacksonville, First United Methodist Church, Historic Mount Zion AME Church and St. John’s Episcopal Cathedral all shined as part of the Christmas in the Cathedral District driving tour that included more than 150 brightly lit trees lining city streets. Four other significant landmark buildings were illuminated as well.
Belightjax.com, the interactive audio tour designed to be downloaded on phones, included an introduction and music by the Jacksonville Symphony and descriptions of each of the featured Historic Churches and Landmark buildings.
