2D Animated Trailers: ‘Troll Girl’ by Kay Carmichael
Check out the first trailer for “Troll Girl”, the debut animated 2D short film from Kay Carmichael. A trollish child, raised by a nun in a human village, defies her own insecurities and the villagers' fears to save her mother from danger.
Kay Carmichael was one of eight winners, from nearly 1400 entries, in the pan-African Triggerfish Story Lab, supported by The Walt Disney Company. Before moving into directing, she was a storyboard artist on top African animation projects like “Mama K’s Team 4”, “Moosebox” and “Supa Strikas”. She also created the comic series “Sophie the Giantslayer”.
Made with Blender Grease Pencil, “Troll Girl” is a co-production between Kay’s production company, Giantslayer Studios, and Triggerfish, Africa’s leading animation company.
