Since 2016, 14 infections with Candida auris have been diagnosed in our country(Belgium). Six of them were registered last year. The fungus also seems to be more common with us. "We see an increase in the number of patients who have the fungus on the skin, or in the blood," said Professor Katrien Lagrou. She heads the national reference laboratory for fungal infections at UZ Leuven.
