Making Global Internship Experiences Accessible for Students in Malaysia
Internships are valuable in an emerging professional’s career as they provide real-world experience and the chance to develop both hard and soft skills that position you for success. In fact, statistics show that completing an internship makes you 85% more likely to secure a full-time job once you graduate (NACE, 2021).
However, there are several barriers that prevent students across the globe from accessing internship opportunities. These barriers include; language, geography, lack of access to tools and technology, and the need for visas and/or relocation. The good news is, by leveraging the technology, resources, and networks at our disposal, we are able to create solutions and bridge the gap between education and employment.
Virtual Internships, in partnership with MABECS, built a digital bridge that allowed students located in Malaysia to participate in valuable remote internship experiences that not only give access to hands-on work experience, but also the opportunity to develop essential, transferrable soft skills such as interpersonal communications, teamwork and problem-solving. These skills and this experience can give you an unbeatable advantage, making you a valuable asset for any role you choose to pursue in your career.
