I recommend assigning beds individually, this worked, happiness immediately surpassed eighty percent and is set to increase as I load the .json file.
The defenses are very effective, large guard towers at the four corners connected by walkways, junk fences, two large gates and an exit with a metal door. Metal tower with heavy laser turrets and missile launcher in the center near the tatos field, two more turrets to the south on the "barn" shed.
