Central Michigan/Midland flood 2020. Damage and aftermath of the Edenville Dam and Sanford Dam failures that drained Wixom Lake and Sanford Lake.
When I started filming this video I set out to simply capture some footage of a news event happening in my area. I thought I would post it to the internet for posterity's sake and leave it at that. Never did I think going to check out some local flooding would turn into the discovery of corrupt and unchecked capitalism that resulted in hundreds of families being displaced through no fault of their own. This flood was not a natural disaster, but the result of unsustainable business and environmental practices. Malpractice runs rampant in this system that only works to sustain the rich. What the future holds for the people whose homes and business have been destroyed and whether any reparations will be paid is still unknown.
