👩🎨 How to Get a Natural Sky in Lightroom Without Clouds
The secret to a realistic sky is balance 🌤️
In Lightroom, just a touch less saturation lets the natural color breathe.
Less postcard effect, more visual truth.
Remember: the sky isn't the protagonist, but the harmony of the scene is.
A consistent blue is better than a perfect but unreal blue.
🖌️ HOMEWORK – The sky as a mirror of light
📸 Objective:
Train your eye to read the true hue of the sky and learn how to correct it without losing color balance.
🔹 PHASE 1 — Observation without a camera
Every day for 3 days, observe the sky at three times:
Early morning
Afternoon
Sunset
Write down on a piece of paper or on your phone what type of blue you see:
example → "cold and sharp", "soft and dusty", "blue with warm shades of orange".
Notice how much it changes depending on the light and the environment
(asphalt, clouds, buildings, greenery).
🔹 STEP 2 — Take 3 photos
Choose a landscape with a clearly visible sky.
Take:
one overexposed photo,
one underexposed photo,
one corrected photo.
Import them into Lightroom.
🔹 STEP 3 — Correction in Lightroom
Apply the tutorial method:
Highlights, HSL, Luminance, and white balance.
The goal is not to obtain a "beautiful" blue,
but a sky consistent with the scene.
When you think you're done, place two photos side by side (before/after) and ask yourself:
"Is this the sky I really remembered?"
🔹 STEP 4 — Personal Reflection
Write a sentence as a visual diary.

To train visual memory, tonal sensitivity, and color consistency—the three qualities that distinguish a technical photographer from a conscious author.
