Gretsch Catalina maple 14x6,5, in the previous video we tested the complete drum set, today only the snare. Let's see its features:
Maple shell with visible wine-colored wood grain, I'll call it Lambrusco lacquer!
2mm triple flanged 8 lugs
Mapex M-series side-operated snare strainer without any metallic buzz
-Solid and nice central lug with plastic base to not damage the shell
Aluminum badge on a black background.
Warm sound, very resonant ... a little slow in response since it is deep enough so there is distance between drumhead and strainer, if you add to this the fact that it has 8 lugs it could be a little inaccurate.
I reiterate the absolute absence of metallic buzzes in the snare strainer. Used we could find it around 100 max 120 euros given the height of the shell, it's a snare drum that deserves; but on the other hand you just need to make an effort and for 150 euros we could buy a Mapex Saturn with 10 lugs which is a completely different thing!
On the other hand, it's a Gretsch so while it has a similar sound to its competitor Mapex M, it is more popular and therefore more salable in the future.
