Asian Golden Weaver birds nesting | Birding in Thailand
Asian Golden Weaver birds nesting season is between March and August and it is one of the highlights of birding in Thailand at that time of year. Asian Golden Weaver bird, Ploceus hypoxanthus, nests in emergent vegetation in wet areas in small colonies and is known as นกกระจาบทอง in Thai. There are three species of weaver birds in Thailand and Asian Golden Weaver is the most colourful. However, of the three types of weaver bird nests, Asian Golden Weavers make the least attractive nests. It would seem that the plumage of the male is enough to impress the female without having to make such beautiful nests as other weaver birds.
