"Teach your micro:bit new tricks with machine learning," presented by Jan Jongboom

Some things are really easy on the micro:bit, like playing a sound when you touch the logo, or showing a message on the screen when you press a button. But some things are really hard: like responding to a secret codeword, detecting which dance you pull off, or hearing if someone is coming up the stairs to your room. Why? Because there are infinite sounds and motions, and that makes it almost impossible to write code to detect these events. So are we out of luck?

Fortunately not! Thanks to the much more powerful processor on the new micro:bit we can use Machine Learning to make your micro:bit feel and hear things and respond in real time. In this talk you will go from zero (no programming skills required) to a working machine learning model that responds to small sentences.

This session was recorded live on 5 December 2020 at micro:bit LIVE 2020 virtual.
