FINCA UGANDA'S JOURNEY
For 30 years now, we've been building communities and we continue to do so with our top notch financial services inclusive of savings, loans and money transfers. Below are some of our milestones.
1992: Village Banking
FINCA Uganda starts operations as a microfinance institution, building a positive reputation for its Village Banking model that allows clients to access loans through group membership.
2004: Microfinance Deposit Taking Institution (MDI)
FINCA Uganda is licensed as a Microfinance Deposit Taking Institution (MDI), becoming the first MDI to be regulated by Bank of Uganda under the MDI Act of 2003.
2010: Introduction of New Technology to Expand Outreach
FINCA Uganda launches point-of-sale (POS) machines to better serve clients in rural areas.
2012: 20 Years of Responsible Finance
FINCA Uganda celebrates 20 years of providing life-changing financial services. It also launches ATM services through the FINCA Access card to allow customers 24/7 access to their money through a network of Interswitch ATMs located across the country.
2014: Savings, Loans and Money transfers
FINCA Uganda now offers savings, loans and money transfer services to clients across its 27 branches around the country.
2015: FINCA Opens its Head Office Premises
FINCA Uganda opens new head offices on plot 11, Acacia Avenue, Kampala.
2016: Credit Scoring
FINCA Uganda becomes the first financial institution in the country to adopt credit scoring, a credit analysis tool that enables fast credit decisioning. Implemented in partnership with Compuscan CRB and KfW, credit scoring enables FINCA Uganda to make credit decisions within a matter of minutes. This tool features faster processing time, improved operational efficiency and enhanced customer experience.
2017: 25 years of Empowering Communities
FINCA Uganda marks 25 years of providing relevant financial services to individuals, families and communities around the country.
2018: FINCA +10 Scholarship fund
Introduces FINCA +10 Scholarship fund.
2020: FINCA Mobile Financial Solutions
Introduced FINCA Mobile App and USSD code.
